Sunday School

Are you ready for a new school year? At our house the back packs are filled with new supplies, new shoes are still clean and waiting for the first day of class and enthusiasm and excitement build as we wait for that first day. The kids can't wait to find out who their teachers are, if they share classes with their friends and what everyone did over the summer. As parents there is a little relief sending the kids back to school, a little sadness as we lose evenings to busy schedules and homework, but a lot of hope and expectation as we help prepare our children for their futures.

Hopefully each of you is just as excited about our New Sunday School year. I hope that you too, can't wait to find out who your teacher is, what the new curriculum is like, what your friends did over the summer, and that you look forward to continuing your Christian Education with hope and expectation! The great thing about it is that no matter your age, no matter your "grade," we have an exciting class for you! This year we are using a new lectionary based series from Concordia Publishing called "Our Life in Christ." Our Life In Christ offers a whole family approach to Sunday School. Every lesson at every level, pre-school through adult focuses on the same topic taught in an age appropriate way. This consistency opens the door for family faith building outside the classroom by allowing families to discuss what they learn in Sunday School. During the first quarter, the lessons will focus on the Old Testament. The second and third quarters will focus on the New Testament. Additionally, this curriculum provides support for young families in the form of Daily Devotional Books for our students in grades 1-6 and Quarterly "Family Talk" Newsletters designed to help families encourage faith in their home.
